IMBooster
Q: What are the requirements for IMBooster to work properly?
A:IMBooster needs at least 512 MB of RAM, a 32bit operating system (we work with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7), the latest Flash Player version available, Windows Live Messenger 8.5 or higher, Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 or higher or AIM 6 or higher. Also, make sure you have administrative rights, otherwise your operating system will not allow you to install any kind of software.
Q: Does IMBooster work with polygamy WLM?
A: Yes, IMBooster works with multiple instances of Windows Live Messenger (versions 8.5, 9.0 stable) and Yahoo! Messenger (version 8.1, 9.0 stable)!
Q: I’m on Vista and IMBooster doesn’t run… What do I do?
A: If you encounter this error please go to your Control Panel and try to disable the User Account Options. This should fix your problem.
Q: My Vista User Account Options are disabled or I’m on XP and IMBooster doesn’t run… What do I do?
A: If you encounter this error please shutdown your Messenger and IMBooster and then restart them in the following orde
A: first your Messenger, then IMBooster. Wait a few minutes and if it still hasn’t appeared in your conversation, contact support@iminent.com
Q: After uninstalling, IMBooster still appears! How can I completely remove it?
A: Try uninstalling it again and carefully go through the steps and follow carefully all instructions. You may have cancelled the Uninstall process and had the impression that you removed IMBooster.
Q: I have correctly installed IMBooster, but it doesn’t appear, why?
A: If you correctly installed IMBooster and you know that it is running, try minimizing and maximizing your chat window, typing some phrases in it or clicking on your Windows bar and then back again on the window. These actions should force IMBooster to initialize.
Q: I installed IMBooster before installing Windows Live Messenger, why doesn’t IMBooster work?
A: If you installed IMBooster prior to Windows Live Messenger, you have to uninstall IMBooster and then get the latest version online, version which will attach to your already installed Windows Live Messenger.
Q: I can’t install IMBooster! Help!
A: First of all make sure you are compatible with IMBooste
A: check the Help section for Compatibility. Then check you downloaded the setup file completely. If not, download it again from our website www.iminent.com. It should run smoothly if the two conditions were fulfilled. If you get any errors or malfunctions, contact us at support@iminent.com.
Q: I just installed IMBooster and I don’t know what to do. Help me!
A: Ok, you installed it, now follow these steps:
- Open IMBooster;
- Log in to your Messenger;
- Open a conversation with one of your friends;
- Type something; (you should get a bar at the top of your chat box);
- Click any of the Content icons and start sending fun;
Q: Can I organize Emoticons, BigEmos and Video Winks?
A: Yes, you can. For a quicker access to the ones you prefer, simply right click and choose Add to My Stuff or drag and drop them there and you’ll find them at the top of the section!
Q: How do I change the language of my IMBooster?
A: If you want IMBooster in another language you will need to uninstall it and then get the latest version from our website. You will be asked to choose the language at install.
Q: How can I check which IMBooster version I have?
A: In order to find out your IMBooster version you will have to click the last icon on the right (in the contact list toolbar), then go to Other Options and click “About…”.
Q: Do I have to pay in order to use IMBooster ?
A: You don’t have to pay anything! IMBooster is completely free, created for you and your Messenger friends.
Q: Why does my antivirus block IMBooster?
A: First of all you need to know that we guarantee that our software does not contain any Malware or viruses. You can use it safely, without worrying. Some Antivirus software, if set on “High security” inform the user of any attempt to access the Internet. IMBooster contacts the IMBooster servers in order to get the latest content, through Internet, so this may be the reason your Antivirus is detecting IMBooster.
Q: What do I do if I get “Error during installation of assembly”?
A: Not a common software error, but this can be fixed by uninstalling older versions of the .NET Framework and installing the latest one. After installing, no such error will appear again. Just visit your Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs and scroll for Microsoft .NET Framework. Uninstall the old versions and get the latest one on the Microsoft Website.
Q: I’m talking in many IM windows and the IMBooster bar clones itself to ALL of them. Is that normal?
A: Yes, that’s how we developed it, an add-on which is one with your IM window!
Q: Are you compatible with the new Windows Live Messenger 9.0?
A: Yes, we are compatible with Window Live Messenger 8.5 or higher. However, if you encounter errors with any of these supported versions, please report them at support@iminent.com.
Q: How to disable IMNews?
A: IMNews can be easily disabled. Just uncheck the “Show at next Startup” box from the IMNews window. It will not appear at next launch.
Q: After having installed IMBooster I can’t connect to messenger anymore, why?
A:Please follow these steps in order to fix this issue:
- 1. Close your Messenger and IMBooster processes from Task Manger (ctrl+alt+delete)
- 2. Then start your Messenger and IMBooster manually by double clicking each icon (you can also find them in your Start Programs).

Q: How do I preview Emoticons, Winks, and Pranks etc. in IMBooster?
A:You are able to see the preview of Emoticons, BigEmos, Video Winks and Mood Avatars in IMBooster if you place your mouse over them before using them in your conversation window. Unfortunately this option is not available yet in IMBooster for Winks and Pranks, the only way you can view them is to send them directly.

Q: What is IMBooster in Webmail?
A: IMBooster in Webmail is our latest service which allows you to add a personal touch and flare to your e-mails with all sorts of Emoticons, BigEmos and Winks at your fingertips!
Q: How can I get IMBooster in Webmail?
A: To get IMBooster in Webmail you will need to download and install our software IMBooster. Click on this link to download it directly: http://www.iminent.com/download.
Q: Where can I find IMBooster in Webmail?
A: After you install IMBooster, the IMBooster in Webmail service will be found in your e-mail. Choose to compose a new message and you will see the IMBooster in Webmail toolbar.
Q: How can I use IMBooster in Webmail?
A: To use IMBooster in Webmail you need to create a new e-mail message and then choose from the IMBooster toolbar the content that you would like to send. Many categories of Emoticons, BigEmos and Winks are ready to add a personalized touch your message. Get emotional!
Q: Is IMBooster in Webmail compatible with all e-mail clients out there?
A: IMBooster in Webmail is compatible with the most commonly used e-mail clients: Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, AOL and Gmail.
Q: I am using Yahoo Mail Classic. Why can’t I use IMBooster in Webmail?
A: You would need to use the new Yahoo! Mail in order for IMBooster in Webmail to work. Click the “Try the new Yahoo! Mail” link at the top right of your screen if you would like to change this.
Q: Do my friends need to have IMBooster installed to see what I send?
A: Not necessarily, though your friends will need to have IMBooster installed if you send any Winks. For Emoticons and BigEmos however, they can see them without any additional software installed. But if they would like to send some as well, they would just need to install IMBooster too.
Q: Do I have to pay for IMBooster in Webmail?
A: . Absolutely not, IMBooster in Webmail is completely free! No hidden costs.
Q: How to disable IMBooster in Webmail from Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox?
A: In order to disable IMBooster in Webmail from Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox you will need to follow a couple easy steps:
- browser and click on “Tools” and then choose “Manage add-ons”
- Scroll down until you see “IMinent WebBooster” and click “disable”.
- 3. Open your Mozilla Firefox browser and click on “Tools” and then choose “Add-ons”
- Scroll down until you see “IMinent WebBooster” and click “disable”.
Q: I want to keep IMBooster for my messenger but how can I uninstall IMBooster in Webmail ?
A:If you want to keep IMBooster for your Messenger you will also have to keep IMBooster in Webmail. Uninstalling IMBooster in Webmail will remove the both of them.
Q: Why doesn’t IMBooster inWebmail appear in my Gmail?
A:If you encounter this problem please follow these steps:
1. Open your Internet Explorer >Sign into the gmail account>Settings>Browser connection>Select “Don’t always use https”>Save Changes
2. Sign out from the gmail account> Restart Internet Explorer>Sign into the account >Go to “Compose Mail” and IMBooster inWebmail should appear.
Q: IMBooster in Webmail appears but not the content, why?
A: In order to solve the issue: open Internet Explorer click on Tools>Internet Options>General>Temporary Internet Files>Delete Files and then restart the Internet Explorer browser. This should fix your problem.
Q: Why does IMBooster in Webmail disappear?
A:This may happen because IMBooster in Webmail was somehow disabled. In order to fix this issue please follow these steps:
For Internet Explorer:
- 1. Tools> Manage add-ons
- 2. Scroll down until you see “IMinent WebBooster” and click “enable”.
For Mozilla Firefox:
- 1. Tools>Add-ons
- 2. Scroll down until you see “IMinent WebBooster” and click “enable”.

Q: How can I remove IMBooster?
A: The software can be uninstalled from the “ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAM” dialog box in the windows Control panel > Go to “ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS” in your control panel > Look for IMBOOSTER and click the remove button.
The IMBooster toolbar for browser
Q: What is the IMBooster toolbar?
A: The IMBooster toolbar is a product we offer at IMBooster install. It attaches to your web browser (Firefox or Internet Explorer) and contains all the content we have, content that you can insert into emails, post on myspace or any other compatible websites (see compatibility in the IMBooster toolbar). Check it daily to see even more entertaining options!
Q: How can I listen to radio?
A: When you install IMBooster you should select to also install the IMBooster toolbar. Our toolbar offers a great variety of tools and options, including that of listening to the radio. If you don’t have the IMBooster toolbar you can get it here: http://www.iminent.com/toolbardownload/
Q: How do I uninstall the IMBooster toolbar?
A: For Internet Explorer: Go to “Start” > “Settings” > “Control Panel”.
On your control panel, select “Programs and Features”. Now select “IMinent Toolbar” from the list of currently installed programs. Click “Uninstall” and follow the instructions.
For FireFox: You can hide the IMINENT Toolbar for Firefox by clicking your right mouse button while the cursor is over the IMINENT toolbar, and then selecting IMinent Toolbar.
If you prefer to uninstall the IMINENT for Firefox and remove it from your computer entirely, go to your Tools in Firefox menu and select Add-ons. Now select IMinent Toolbar for Firefox and click on Uninstall button.
Q: I accidentally disabled the IMBooster toolbar, how do I get it back?
A: In order to get the IMBooster toolbar back right click any toolbar and check the IMBooster toolbar. It will appear at the top of your browser and you will have it as long as you wish, at your disposal. Another way of doing this is by separately downloading it from our website www.iminent.com.
The Content Window
Q: What is the Content Window?
A: The Content Window is the way you can view all the content that IMinent puts at your disposal but also to quickly add to your favorites new and original content and browse your own creations. It’s a fast and flexible way of browsing Emoticons, BigEmos and Video Winks by category of mood.
Q: Can I maximize the content so I can see it better?
A: No, that would take up too much space, but you can see Video Winks in larger view if you place your mouse over them.
Q: Can I create my content from the Content Manager too?
A: Yes, you can quickly create Emoticons and Video Winks by using the same icons that you normally use!
Emoticons
Q: I have downloaded Emoticons but I can’t find them!
A: Emoticons and BigEmos are not for download! They are absolutely free but only to be used with IMBooster, thus allowing you to get EVERYTHING by simply installing this all-in-one application. Click the Emoticons icon to gain access to the entire collection.
Q: My friends don’t see Emoticons, they see some numbers instead. What can I do?
A: First of all check if your friend is using Windows Live Messenger 8.5 or higher and that you both are using stable versions (beta versions of Windows Live Messenger are not compatible with customized emoticons). Secondly, make sure both your internet connections are 128.8 kbps or higher. If you still have this problem, please contact support@iminent.com
Q: My Emoticons disappeared! What do I do?
A: Due to Internet Connection problems or software failure, you may sometimes encounter this problem. Fixing it is easy: you will have to do a refresh of the emoticons. One way of doing this would be restarting your operating system. Another way of refreshing would be by clicking through the services. After refreshing, all emoticons should be in the main tab.
Q: What is “Make your Emoticons”?
A: Make your Emoticons is an exclusive feature within IMBooster which allows you to create your own Emoticons with nothing more than your webcam or from one of the images you have on your computer. There are two buttons - Create from image and Create from webcam.
With this feature you can create your own personalized Emoticons and extend the horizon of the predefined packs offered by your Messenger.
Q: Where do I find “Make your Emoticons”?
A: You first need to be engaged in a conversation with one of your Messenger contacts. You should see a bar in your conversation window, right above the text box. Open the Emoticon tab. The two Make your Emoticons icons can be found at the top of the window, to the right. You can also find these two icons in the bar situated at the top of your contact list.
Q: How can I insert Emoticons in my email messages?
A: You can insert Emoticons in your e-mails with the help of the IMBooster toolbar. You can download it here: http://www.iminent.com/toolbardownload/ . You will find it in your browser (it is compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox).
Q: Why can’t I find my webcam in the “Make your Emoticons” drop-down menu?
A: Check if your webcam is installed properly and if it’s connected to your computer. If everything is in order and your hardware is still not available, then you should probably contact your webcam provider or IMBooster Customer Care at support@iminent.com.
Q: Why is the quality low when I record myself for longer periods of time?
A: Your webcam is captured frame by frame and when you record yourself for longer periods of time, your eyes perceive the image as if it’s not streaming correctly. Try recording yourself for shorter periods of time to obtain the best effects!
Q: When I try to create my Emoticons I get an error message, what must I do?
A: Sometimes, the encoding process is not running correctly. In order to fix this, close the window and try again.
Q: What kind of file can I Emoticonize?
A: For now you can Emoticonize the following types of images: JPEG, PNG, animated GIF.
Q: Can I remove only some of the Emoticons from IMBooster?
A: We are sorry but you can’t separately remove any of the Emoticons provided to you within IMBooster. If you do not like some Emoticons, try to make your own selection in the Favorites section and avoid accessing other areas.
BigEmos
Q: What are BigEmos?
A: BigEmos are large emoticons of various types. They are 250 pixels wide, five times wider than the average emoticon. You can find all of them in the IMBooster bar in your chat window, represented by an icon with multiple smiley faces.
Q: I have downloaded BigEmos but I can’t find them!
A: Emoticons and BigEmos are not for download! They are absolutely free but only to be used after installing IMBooster, thus allowing you to get EVERYTHING by simply installing this all-in-one application. Click the BigEmos icon (the icon with multiple smiley faces) to gain access to the entire collection.

Winks
Q: What are Winks for?
A: Winks are a service which allows users to send special Winks with superior sound and visual effects. They offer a better solution for IM experience and entertainment, better than the default winks offered by your Messenger or other Messenger addons.
Q: My image is stuck in the Winks animation, how do I stop it?
A: Sometimes, Winks animations turn irresponsive due to different causes such as hardware malfunction or difference in Flash versions installed. What to do in order to stop the Winks, is to click Alt+F4. This will close the Winks and IMBooster, so you will need to restart IMBooster to use the services again.
Q: Can I create my own Winks?
A: Sorry, this process is too complicated right now in order to offer our users the possibility of creating their own Winks. We shall see if and how we shall insert this option in the future. Stay tuned for such news!
Q: Are Winks available with Yahoo! Messenger?
A: Yes, good news! Winks work with the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger, but under the condition that both users are running IMBooster. However, if you encounter errors in the use of Winks with Yahoo! Messenger, please report them to support@iminent.com

A: We are sorry but winks cannot be separately removed from IMBooster. If you do not like some Winks, try to make your own selection in the Favorites section and avoid accessing the Winks area.
Video Winks
Q: What are Video Winks? Where can I find them?
A: Video Winks are short videos that you can send exactly the same way you use winks. You can send other users’ Video Winks or even create your own by uploading your favorite videos or by recording yourself with your webcam. Click the Video Winks icon to get access to Top Video Winks and to the Webcam Record Feature.
Q: I sent a Video Wink and my friend didn’t receive it. Why?
A: Unfortunately, in order to be played live, Video Winks require both the latest version of Windows Live Messenger/Yahoo! Messenger and also IMBooster to run on both sides. Your friend needs to get the latest version of IMBooster from our website.
Q: Can I upload my own Video Winks?
A: Yes, sure you can! That is the reason for which we created Video Winks in the first place! You can create short videos that you can easily send exactly the same way you send winks. Just click the Video Wink Upload button and follow the instructions.
Q: Can I use my webcam to create Video Winks?
A: Yes, you can do that too. The Use my webcam icon can be found in the Video Winks section, next to the Upload icon (top, right). You first select your webcam and configure it, and then you hit the Record my webcam button. While you’re recording the scene, you will be able to see the length of the video. Click the same button again to stop the recording session. The video will instantly be encoded and uploaded to your account so that you can use it immediately in your chat sessions.
Q: I try to create a Video Wink by recording my webcam but I get an error. What do I do?
A: Try to check if your webcam is working properly and if everything is plugged in, especially your microphone! You can’t have Video Winks without sound, now, can you? Then check if the codecs you have on your system are compatible with IMBooster (We work great with K-Lite CodecPack Basic 3.8.0). Also, if you’re trying to upload a .mov, check if you have QuickTime installed on your system.
Note: Please remove all other codecs before installing K-lite CodecPack, otherwise you may encounter codec conflicts leading to nothing on your system working as it should.
Q: I want to create Video Winks, but I have no original ideas. Can you help me?
A: When it comes to creating, it’s really up to you to find an application you are comfortable with, depending on how simple or complicated your scenarios are.
Here are a few ideas on how to create content:
- Record yourself with your webcam, saying something funny, or doing some particular thing.
- Find a video you like and edit it, or upload it raw.
- Send a message to the one you love.
- Show recordings of your screen while you were doing something in a game? Use screen capture software and let IMBooster do the rest.
Let your imagination do the creating, cut the Video Wink to make it short enough as to run smoothly when you send it, and upload it to IMBooster.
Q: I don’t want others to see my Video Winks, I only want to send my Video Winks to my friends. Can I do that?
A: Yes, sure. When you create a Video Wink you have the possibility of setting it as Private or Public (You can find this in the final step of the Upload process, together with Title and Description). Set it as Private if you don’t want to show it to anybody else but your contacts and nobody else will be able to see it or even search for it.
Q: Where can I find my Video Winks after creating them?
A:You can find the Video Winks that you created in your Video Winks service, in the section “My favorites”
Buddy Bubble
Q: What is Bubby Bubble for?
A: Buddy Bubble is a feature which allows users to decorate their own texts with many different types of speech bubbles designed to express an entire specter of moods and emotions. Buddy Bubbles are for fun, they are created for IM addicts who want to take their messaging to a new and entertaining level.
Q: My message was sent incomplete, why does Buddy Bubble do that?
A: There is a limit of 100 characters to how much text can fit into a Buddy Bubble. Your message will be automatically truncated from 100 characters onward in order to fit within the speech bubble. This prevents messages from becoming hard to read for your buddies.
Q: Why do I see the message “To use Buddy Bubbles you must first enter text in the conversation window”?
A: In order to use Buddy Bubbles, you need to apply them to text, so start by writing something in one of your conversation windows (don’t send it yet!), and you will be able to pick a Buddy Bubble and decorate what you typed, according to your tastes and wishes. When there is text in the message window, you will never see the error message above!
Later edit: We encountered a bug referring to Buddy Bubbles not loading even with written text, so please, if you get this on your computer, contact us at support@iminent.com
Q: Can I create my own Buddy Bubble?
A: For the moment you can only use our predefined Buddy Bubbles, but stay tuned to our website www.iminent.com for more updates!
Q: Is Buddy Bubble available for Yahoo! Messenger also?
A: Yes, Buddy Bubble is now available for Yahoo! Messenger also! The icon is represented by an emoticon with a speech bubble.
Q: Can I download Buddy Bubbles and use them separately?
A: Buddy Bubbles are currently only working with our free add-on software for Messenger - IMBooster. They cannot be downloaded but they can be used at any time for free, with IMBooster.
FireNudge
Q: What is FireNudge and where do I find FireNudge?
A: Superman, Batman, FireNudge. They’re quite similar, aren’t they? With or without superpowers, FireNudge is a feature included in your IMBooster which sends, when clicked, a set of 5 Nudges to the IM buddy that you wish to drive insane. It’s the first icon in your IMBooster bar (look for it in your chat window).
Q: Can I use FireNudge with my Yahoo! Messenger?
A: Sure, FireNudge is compatible with both Windows Live Messenger as well as Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 or higher. The only condition is that your buddy also has IMBooster installed.
Q: Why does the FireNudge button turn inactive when I FireNudge someone?
A: For security and moral reasons, there is a delay of 10 seconds between the FireNudges you can send in the same conversation window. This is so that your friends’ Messenger doesn’t freeze and so that you don’t cause anybody any harm. Let’s limit FireNudge to simple fun, ok?
Mood Avatars
Q: Why is Mood Avatar better than a normal avatar?
A: Your normal avatar does not react to your key sequences. Every IM addict uses the text smiley

and others. Mood Avatars react to these text smileys and they change themselves according to the correct mood.
Q: Why isn’t my Mood Avatar animated?
A: Mood Avatars are always animated in WLM 9.0 or higher (all versions earlier than WLM 9.0 will show static Mood Avatars), but due to some problems of transfer you may notice that Mood Avatars don’t react. Simply sign out of IMBooster and Messenger and then sign back in. Mood Avatars should be working now with any of the mood key sequences (e.g.: :P, :-P,
etc.). By the way, Mood Avatars only work when your IMBooster is running!
Q: How do I remove Mood Avatars?
A: No complicated process is needed in order to remove Mood Avatars and, because of this, no disable button is available. In order to change your avatar to a simple, normal one, you just need to select an image. If you want to go back to using Mood Avatars, simply select one again from the IMBooster bar.
Q: Can I create my own Mood Avatars?
A: For now, the service only allows predefined content to be used (content that only we create from cartoon characters we use also for Emoticons and BigEmos) but maybe later on we shall add this possibility of users to create their own Mood Avatar Packs.
Q: Are Mood Avatars available for Yahoo! Messenger also?
A: Yes! Mood Avatars are compatible with Yahoo! Messenger. However, if you encounter any bugs, please contact support@iminent.com.
Q: Can I download Mood Avatars?
A: No, Mood Avatars are not for download, but you can use them for free and in exclusivity with the latest version of IMBooster provided for you at the following address: http://www.iminent.com/download
Q: Why can’t I use Mood Avatars on AIM6?
A: We are sorry but Mood Avatars are not compatible with AIM6.
Pranks
Q: How can I download Pranks?
A: In order to get pranks please install IMBooster. You will see this icon
in your window.
Q: Why can’t my friends see my pranks?
A: There are different reasons for which your friend might not receive the prank you send them. Check together the following: check if the latest version of Flash Player is installed, check if your friend has the latest version of Windows Live Messenger/Yahoo! Messenger/AIM installed as well as the latest IMBooster and check your Internet Connection as a slow one might interfere with the time it takes for the animation to load. Q: How do I uninstall Pranks?

Q: What is Facebook Emotes?
A: Facebook Emotes is our new service which allows you to add a personal touch to your status, comments and private messages on Facebook.
Q: How can I get Facebook Emotes?
A: To get Facebook Emotes on your profile you will need to download and install our software IMBooster. Click on this link: http://www.iminent.com/download to download it directly. You will also need a Facebook account.
Q: Where can I find Facebook Emotes?

and post the invitation to your profile updates. All your friends will see it.
Q: Can I use Facebook Emotes to send private messages?
A: Yes, of course. Start writing a new message and then you will be able to insert the Facebook Emotes in it. Click Send.
Q: Can I also use Facebook Emotes in my Facebook chat?
A: Unfortunately no. This service can only be used for private messages, status updates and comments.
Q: How to disable Facebook Emotes from Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox?
A: In order to disable Facebook Emotes from Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox you will also need to disable IMBooster in Webmail. This means that you will also lose this service.

A:If you encounter this issue please make sure that IMinent WebBooster is not disabled. In order to check this operation please follow these steps:

- 2. Scroll down for IMinent WebBooster and click enable
For Mozilla Firefox:
- 1. Open your Mozilla Firefox and go to Tools > Add-ons
