Emoticons
Q: I have downloaded Emoticons but I can't find them!
A: Emoticons and BigEmos are not for download! They are absolutely free but only to be used after installing IMBooster, thus allowing you to get EVERYTHING by simply installing this all-in-one application. Click the Emoticons icon to gain access to the entire collection.
Q: I can't find Emoticons and BigEmos, it seems I can only send Video
Winks. What do I do?
A: For the moment, Emoticons and BigEmos only work with Windows Live Messenger. Sorry, Yahoo! Messenger fans, we promise we'll work on that! Also, there is a problem with polygamy add-ons with which we are not compatible. To get Emoticons and BigEmos, you need to make sure you only run one instance of Messenger and that you're using Windows Live Messenger 7.0 or higher.
Q: My friends don't see Emoticons, they see some numbers instead. What
can I do?
A: First of all check if your friend is using Windows Live
Messenger 7.0 or higher. Secondly, make sure both your internet connections
are 128.8 kbps or higher.
Q: My emoticons disappeared! What do I do?
A: Due to Internet Connection problems or software failure, you may sometimes encounter this problem. Fixing it is easy: you will have to do a refresh of the emoticons. One way of doing this would be closing and then running IMBooster again. Another way of refreshing would be by clicking the "My Stuff " Tab and then clicking the first tab (where you were before). After refreshing, all emoticons should be in the main tab.
Q: What is "Make your Emoticons"?
A: Make your Emoticons is a new feature within IMBooster which
allows you to create your own Emoticons with nothing more than your webcam or from any
of the images you have on your computer. There are two buttons – Create
from image and Create from webcam.
With this feature you can create your own personalized Emoticons and extend
the horizon of the predefined packs offered by your IM Application.
Q: Where do I find "Make your Emoticons"?
A: You first need to have the conversation window open. You
should see a blue bar next to it. Open the emoticon tab, the Make your Emoticons
icons can be found at the top of the window, to the right.
Q: Why can’t I find my webcam in the "Make your Emoticons" drop-down menu?
A: Check if your webcam is installed properly and if it’s
connected to your computer. If everything is in order and your hardware is still not available, then you should probably
contact your webcam provider or IMBooster Customer Care at support@iminent.com.
Q: Why is the quality low when I record myself for longer periods
of time?
A: Your webcam is captured frame by frame and when you record
yourself for longer periods of time, your eyes perceive the image as if it’s
not streaming correctly. Try recording yourself for shorter periods of time
to obtain the best effects!
Q: When I try to create my emoticons I get an error, what must I do?
A: Sometimes, the encoding process is not running correctly. In
order to fix this, close the window and try again.
Q: What kind of file can I emoticonize?
A: For now you can emoticonize the following types of images:
JPEG, PNG, animated GIF.
BigEmos
Q: What are BigEmos?
A: BigEmos are large emoticons of various types. They are 250 pixels wide, five times larger than the average emoticon! You can find them in IMBooster, second icon.

Video Winks
Q: What are Video Winks? Where can I find them?
A: Video Winks are short videos that you can send exactly the same way you use winks. You can send other users' Video Winks or even create your own by uploading your favorite videos or by recording yourself with your webcam. You can find the entire collection on the main website. Click the Video Winks icon to get access to Top Video Winks and to the Webcam Record Feature.
Q: I sent a Video Wink and my friend didn't receive it. Why?
A: Unfortunately, in order to be played live, Video Winks require both the latest version of Messenger and also IMBooster to run on both sides. Your friend needs to get the latest version from our website.
Q: Can I upload my own Video Winks?
A: Yes, sure you can! That is the reason for which we created Video Winks in the first place! You can create short videos that you can easily send exactly the same way you send winks. Just click the Emovid Upload button and follow the instructions.
Q: Can I use my webcam to create Video Winks?
A: Yes, you can do that too. The Use my webcam icon can be found in the Video Winks section, next to the Upload icon . You first select your webcam and configure it, then you hit the Record my webcam button . While you're recording the scene, you will be able to see the length of the video. Click the same button to stop the recording session. The video will instantly be encoded and uploaded to your account so that you can use it immediately in your chat sessions.
Q: I try to create a Video Wink by recording my webcam but I get an
error. What do I do?
A: Try to check if your webcam is working properly and if everything
is plugged in, especially your microphone! You can't have Video Wink without
sound, now, can you? Then check if the codecs you have on your system are compatible
with IMBooster (We work great with K-Lite
CodecPack Basic 3.8.0). Also, if you're trying to upload a .mov, check if
you have QuickTime installed on your system.
Note: Please remove all other codecs before installing K-lite CodecPack. Otherwise it might result as audio/video codecs conflicts and stop working.
Q: I want to create Video Winks, but I have no original ideas. Can
you help me?
A: When it comes to creating, it's really up to you to find an application you are comfortable with, depending on how simple or complicated your scenarios are.
Here are a few ideason how to create content:
- Record yourself with your webcam, saying something funny, or doing some particular thing.
- Find a video you like and edit it, or upload it raw.
- Send a message to the one you love.
- Show recordings of your screen while you were doing something in a game? Use screen capture software and let IMBooster do the rest.
Let your imagination do the creating, cut the Video Wink to make it short enough as to run smoothly when you send it, and upload it to IMBooster.
Q: I don't want others to see my Video Winks, I only want to send my
Video Winks to my friends. Can I do that?
A: Yes, sure. When you create a Video Wink you have the possibility
of setting it as Private or Public (You can find this in the final step of the
Upload process, together with Title and Description). Set it as Private if you
don't want to show it to anybody else but your contacts and nobody else will
be able to see it or even search for it.
FireNudge
Q: What is FireNudge?
A: Superman, Batman, FireNudge. They’re quite similar,
aren’t they? With or without superpowers, FireNudge is a special new feature
included in your IMBooster which sends, when clicked, a set of 5 Nudges to the
chat partner that you wish to drive insane!
Q: Where do I find FireNudge?
A: You first need to have the conversation window open. You
should see a blue bar next to it. FireNudge can be found in the IMBooster menu
(first icon, shaped as a lightning bolt). Just click it and you will see the
message “!!! FireNudge !!!”: this is how you know your chat partner
is now receiving a storm of Nudges in his/her IM window.
Q: Can I use FireNudge with my Yahoo! Messenger?
A: Unfortunately, you cannot use FireNudge with Yahoo! Messenger at the moment. FireNudge is only compatible with Windows Live Messenger 7.0 or higher.
Q: Why does the FireNudge button turn inactive when I FireNudge someone?
A: For security and moral reasons, there is a delay of 10 seconds
between the FireNudges you can send in the same conversation window. This is
so that your friends’ messenger doesn’t freeze and so that you don’t
cause anybody any harm. Let’s limit FireNudge to simple fun, ok?
IMBooster
Q: I just installed IMBooster and I don't know what to do. Help me!
A: Ok, you installed it, now follow these steps:
- Open IMBooster;
- Log in to your Messenger;
- Open a conversation with one of your friends;
- Type something; (you should get a blue bar to the side of your IM window);
- Click any of the Content icons and start sending fun;
Q: Can I organize Emoticons, BigEmos and Video Winks?
A: Yes, you can. For a quicker access to the ones you prefer, simply choose Add to My Stuff and you'll find them in the second tab ! Don't forget to try the third tab, as well, because from there you can add whatever type of content you want: the last Video Winks sent/received, or any of the Catalog Categories: Invitation, Friendship, Miscellaneous, Salutation/Goodbye, Moods, Flirt/Love, Joke and Insult! You can do the same thing for the other two - Emoticons and BigEmos!
Q: How do I change the language of my IMBooster?
A: In order to change the language of your IMBooster, click the Options button of your IMBooster blue bar, choose the Change Language option and select the desired language from the drop-down menu.
Q: What do I do if I get "Error during installation of assembly"?
A: Not a common software error, but this can be fixed by uninstalling older versions of the .NET Framework and installing the latest one. After installing, no such error will appear. Just visit your Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs and scroll for Microsoft .NET Framework. Uninstall the old versions and get the latest one on the Microsoft Website.
Q: I'm talking in many IM windows and the IMBooster bar clones itself to ALL of them. Is that normal?
A: Yes, that's how we developed it, an add-on which is one with your IM window!
Q: I have Yahoo! Messenger and I can't use Emoticons and BigEmos! What can I do?
A: Unfortunately, for the moment, Emoticons and BigEmos only work with Windows Live Messenger. We promise we'll keep you up to date with anything we develop next connected to Yahoo! Messenger. Until then, you can have fun with only Video Winks or use IMBooster with Windows Live Messenger, too!
Q: Are you compatible with the new Windows Live Messenger 9.0?
A: We are compatible with Window Live Messenger 7.0 or higher and with Yahoo! Messenger 8.0 or higher, but Windows Live Messenger 9.0 is still in beta version and we have not tested its compatibility with IMBooster thoroughly. If you encounter errors with Windows Live Messenger 9.0, please report them at support@iminent.com.
Q: What is the character at the bottom of my IM window?
A: His name is Mr. PubPub and he is a reliable cartoon character
ready to suggest different websites, according to your interests. He is also
a way for us to survive through advertising.
Q: Why did you create Mr. PubPub?
A: We created Mr. PubPub because we want to keep our exclusive
content free for you, and come up with ways of creating more innovative content
and services for our users!
Q: I like Mr. PubPub. Can I send it as an Emoticon or make it my avatar?
A: Not just yet, but you will be able to use Mr. PubPub soon
enough!
Q: Can I uninstall Mr. PubPub and only leave IMBooster running?
A: For the moment, there is no way of only removing Mr. PubPub

Account
Q: How can I create an account with IMBooster?
A: Inside IMBooster, click the options button, then Identification and Create, or go here: http://www.iminent.com/register.aspx and choose a login and a password. A valid e-mail address (preferably the same that you are going to use with your Messenger) is needed in order to activate your account. After inserting your desired credentials, click Submit and then wait for the activation email. Click the activation link and you will be able to:
- Rate Video Winks;
- Comment Video Winks;
- Add to My Stuff and keep content organized;
- Create Video Winks;
Q: How do I change my Account password?
A: To edit your profile data you need to go to the main website, in the My Account tab which contains all the information related to your account. You can Manage your Account from here, where you can do all sort of useful stuff such as changing your personal e-mail and password with which you registered. To do so, you need to click one of the links in the left column and follow the instructions .
Q: How do I close my Account with IMBooster?
A: There is basically no need to close your account if you just uninstall IMBooster from your system but if you really want to permanently close your Account (we respect your rights and wishes), send an e-mail with your request and we'll take care of it as soon as possible.
Q: How can I remove IMBooster?
A: IMBooster is very easy to uninstall and to completely remove from your system from the Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel.
